Deep tissue massage works on the deeper layers of muscle tissue.
It can be both corrective and therapeutic. The purpose is to
"unstick" muscle fibres in order to release tension, remove toxins
and relax and sooth the muscles.
When muscles are stressed they inhibit blood flow, impeding the distribution of oxygen and nutrients around the body. As a result toxins build up in the muscle and they become inflamed. A deep-tissue massage helps loosen muscle tissues. This enables blood to circulate properly, releasing toxins from the muscles.
